Sober does not equal healed. Many sober addicts are dry and often worse than they were when they were using. It's because people who are prone to becoming addicts are self absorbed and to weak or lazy to deal with life and heal from their problems.

I thought I was doing the right thing staying with my ex when I knew he just needed someone to love him... turns out it wasn't worth it because I just got hurt and he didn't appreciate all I gave.
