Great pic. Here's the deal: she, like so many other Americans, have a tendancy to spend to compensate for something...usually as a way to cope with some type of depression or just as an escape. She may need more than just a budgeting class.

Everything in life is a trade off. If the sum of what your fiance has to offer is insufficient to satisfy you, you are free to break the engagement and look for someone "better". Make the best call you can. Here's how *I* would feel if I were in your situation. Financially there is a minimum standard below which one cannot go. It's pretty risky to marry a deadbeat or someone who is not meaningfully employed, regardless of their "potential". But so long as that minimum standard is met, anything over that is desirable but not essential. However, emotions just get better and better, and (for me at least) have a far better "return" in increased happiness than more money.
