I left my mother for the reasons,24 years ago. The anger decreases but the pain never dies. I have never laid a hand on a woman or child. If men come at me I beat them down.These days I avoid violence,its a poison. Take care of yourself and those weaker than you,its all you can do.

Went through the same as you my friend.i am 54 and she was very mentally and painfully abusing me.It will be 1 year on the 25th of May 2011 that she did this world a favour and died.I am going to get a bottle of bubbly to celebrate it.

I hear you! My mom didn't break my bones, but her treatment really did a number on me, and it made my childhood and adolescence a hell on earth. My mom wanted a daughter for her first child, and she was always furious that I was a boy. As you might expect, I was terrified and awkward around women and girls, so I had all kinds of inappropriate relationships, behaviors, etc. I did not recover from all this, and have appropriate relationships with appropriate women until my mother died. That's the bad news - the good news is that you can recover from it! Good luck and G-d bless!

you sound like a strong spirited person, that can handle anything thrown at you, I wish you luck in life, and forgive, but never, ever forget.

I'm glad you seem to have overcome a brutal childhood. Bless you. Hopefully you will be blessed with success, love and happiness. You have strength and character - smile.

~~~you can look at your situation from many different angles. for instance,you hate your mom because she abused you physically and mentally but you can be thankful that she didn't name you Sue.
You can thank her for the insight and Hard lessons she taught you. She only knew what she knew how to do. Just because you know better doens't mean she does...Be thankful you do know better and are doing that. Don't waste energy on hate.
