There is so much mis-information out there about HSV (Type I and Type II). You can have either type anywhere you have nerves, the most common location are around the mouth or on (around) the genitals. Condoms are virtually useless in preventing the spread since it is spread by skin to skin contact. Type I is *usually* contracted around the mouth and Type II is *usually* contracted around the genitals but not always. Once you have contracted 1 or the other it is very very unlikely you will ever contract the other type.

I know this is going to cause some nasty comments..but... I had a girl do this to me..didn't tell me at first. I was really pissed for a few days, broke up with her but ended up back together. The reality was she was missed diagnosed by an incompentent Doctor and never really had herpes....we got married over 2o years ago...almost lost the girls of my dreams over a stupid herpes missed diagnose. Get retested...if you have it tell him...if not just be happy.

It it's been 2 years, you may not have another flair up. Stay healthy, avoid stress, eat right, avoid alcohol, and you could go the rest of your life without a problem. Type one is not genital, but they have crossed over so much that even small children are getting type two. I wouldn't say anything, unless you get a cold sore,then just act like it's the first time. Many people are carriers and never have symptoms, but pass it on unknowingly.
