My child bride and I have been married for 61 years. We had two children, a boy and a girl. My wife was a home maker and didn't work outside the home until my kids went away to school. I tell my bride I love her every day and she tells me the same. We have had a good happy marriage.

Good Luck!!! I guess the reason our marriage cannot be 2 becoming 1 person is because my wife wants me to become her; or what she wants me to be...thats why. I can't be a "Yes" man.

You're right it is sad. It's very lonely out here. That's great that you can acknowledge and appreciate what you have. Keep nurturing it and living the life that seems to allude so many of us. Congratulations and good luck!

Not everybody needs or even wants to be married. Not everyone needs somebody else to be complete or fulfilled. It's great you are happy but no need to feel sad for others because you think everybody wants what you have.

If husbands and wife's didn't cheat on each other, then there would be a whole lot more people in long happy marriages.

There are just so many women who are more concerned on the size of a mans paycheck than his heart. There use to be a time when a mans job or pay wasn't even discussed for a long while. Now a woman ask in the first conversation. I wouldn't care if a woman made minimum wage as long as she made effort.

^I have never ever asked a man how much he makes. I could care less, as long as like you say he tries. I work 2 full time jobs, if he could even put gas in my car I would be thrilled to tears.

Thanks for recognizing your good fortune, not taking it for granted, and understanding that not everyone is so blessed. There are others who found love and think that just because they did, everyone will. I hope you do not trivialize others' difficulty in meeting the right person by reassuring all your single friends "Don't worry, Mr./Ms. Right is out there". Very likely, it's not the case.

I appreciate this post very much. There are so many negative posts on this site that it's nice to read something positive once-in-a-while. Congratulations to you and your story gives me hope for my life. I've been married and divorced twice now to horrible abusers, but still have hope for a loving, lasting marriage someday. My parents have been happily married for over 30 years so I know it can be done! God bless!

We're going on 23 years! It has it's ups and downs but when you say "Till death do us part", that means something. Some people are selfish and divorce their spouse to be with a new person. It all ends up the same. It's only "new" in the begining. Those types of people are usually never happy with who they have and end up alone. Pick ONE person and stick with it. It's a special thing to be exclusively with one person for the rest of your lives. Congrats to all of us who have many years together!

I hope to someday have that long lasting marriage too. Mine ended in divorce and I have had several failed relationships since. I still hope and have faith that someday I will be blessed with that one person. God Bless you for being an example of love for all of us to see and hopefully learn from.

How do you get a person that really believes in marriage? How do you get past all the liars?

I'm serious! Do you talk about your intentions the first or second date? Do you say that you are looking for someone to love cherish respect and have fun with for the rest of your life? When do you say it, and how do you make them pay attention? Why do they always cheat?

Hubbie and I have been together 29 years this Aug. 18th. Still become one at least twice a week sometimes more. Our secret is never ever disrespect each other. When we need time to cool off respect that time to ourselves. Take time to flirt, hold hands, call each other during the day and fully express our dirty thoughts.Works for us maybe not everybody.
