I am the original poster, I'm also hang out with vegans and 7th Day Adventists. I read the Bible. The whole entire Bible. Jesus mentioned HELL, therefore it is real. When I was in the psychiatric ward (involuntarily! locked up! against my will! Not allowed to leave! bars on the windows!) I actually thought I was IN HELL. For REAL. But my mother smiled and said "Oh, sweetie, you are just in purgatory." Catholics believe in purgatory. It could be for an "undetermined" amount of time: pretty much forever . according to my Priest.(for some really awful sinners, like Hitler???? not sure????). according to my Priest.... SO, anyway, yeah, I was locked up... in my own mind... mental illness is it's own prison: MY OWN HELL> and it keeps GOING ON AND ON AND ON> SO< I just naturally assumed that I created Hell on earth, (God allows what his creation fully desires. It is not GODS desire to send humans to HEll, but the humans wish to do so... may do so?) So, is God the benevolent being in the sky or the impartial omniscient OBSERVER? no. I think Benevolent. Just my conclusion...

LOL Yeah, I'll have to research that one too! It was just a leading statement into the 7th Day Adventist thing. They are minimalist and often vegetarian or vegan, .. they operate the vegetarian health food stores there!

Also, there was a statement by the Beloved Pope John Paul II that considered, just maybe, Hell was more of a "separation from God" than an actual fiery pit? I liked a website called Dawn Bible, but if you just research that statement online, you should find something. It is just and IDEA, something to ponder, but it is nearly BLASPHEMOUS to the so called Fundamentalist Christians. These fundamentalists are the ones that branched off from the original Catholic church and came to the US as pilgrims to worship the (pages removed) Bibles. (is NOTHING sacred?). But HELL was created by the Catholic Church as a means of injecting fear into its worshipers and followers to coerce them into believing in their GOD. There are truly only two cohesions in the Church. The Fear of God and the Fear of Satan or Hell. Without those two ideologies, religion holds no ground.

"Just wait?" Do you think God would send me to Hell? why????? I believe in Jesus and God. I try to live a good life! Why would God send me to Hell for considering the mere philosophical idea, that maybe, just MAYBE Hell is reserved for the Devil and his minion? not for mere humans?

I'm Catholic and I haven't believed in hell for many years. Really: does it make any sense at all that an all powerful entity we call God would want to make a trivial being like a human suffer in hell for all eternity. This upsets my sisters who then question what happens to the Hitlers and the Ted Bundys and the terrorist and.. well you ge the idea. We all end up in the same place, whether it be in heaven or as an unconscious part of the cosmos, in either case our time on earth will be forgotten.

i think heaven and hell is really more of an example of how to live your live. if you do bad things you have created your own hell that you have to live with every day, just like if you do good things you create your own heaven on earth. most people take the bible way to literally!

Religion is a metaphorical reality to keep people from killing themselves. Keep your eyes open. There's plenty of people living in hell all around you, and plenty of them did nothing to deserve it.
