Drinking fills no void, it just makes things worse. As for not being in a band? Just to keep the love of that alive why don't you round up some jam buddies under community on craigslist and do what you dream of. You are not in Hell, but this feeling will pass.

Another weak escape artist... the void of not being in a band? Sorry if this is your biggest problem, you are seriously doomed.

Maybe you should buy guitar hero or something to fill in time...or just drink cuz that works too.

It seems like we are spending all of our life doing whats expected, instead of what we want to do. I want more!!!!

When all the hours of practice and dedication are realized, in a room of great people and all the free beer you can drink, you can't grasp at the time the pure paramount of the situation. I miss those days, as well, like anyone whom has lived the few seconds of something their heart desired.I just can't stay up that late anymore. Go listen to your old recordings, and remenisce(sp)!!!!

Been there, played clubs in the 80's when glam rock was kickin' and it was all fun, no depressing grunge or speed metal crap. You'll get past it with time, one thing I did was switch instruments, from drums to guitar, to help fill the void.

OP-go to open jams..at least you'd be playing out.might find a new band

(from op): i'd like to find other musicians on cl, but there are none with remotely the same tastes in music. it's either country, blues, or hardcore metal around here, no one to jam with (hence the i live in hell comment). actually, i was drunk when i posted this originally and that's what i felt at the time. i'm not really an alcoholic (couldn't afford it...i'm a musician after all), but i thought i was at the time. :) unfortunately, guitar hero just isn't the same, but i do love watching it when other people play.

Man thats a f***in tragedy, not being in a band.

Realize that drinking creates voids. Not at first, but it chips away at you...a small piece at a time. Eventually there wont be any chips left. It may take 5 years, 10 years or a lifetime....But it will take you. If you don't get away from it, it will consume you.
