OP here...I just decided that at 38 years old, I can't take it any more. Tired of wasting my life. Finally woke up one day and realized there's more to life than feeling alone and miserable. I took the easier path, and have no one but myself to blame. He's not worth my tears.

I just love how people assumed it was a female doing the belittling and bullying! Hun, I'm proud of you for having the courage to leave him no matter how long it took.
