Of course the scary thing is that you might not earn what you think you could. Much better to fail by not trying than to fail by not being wanted, right? NOBODY wants to work, if we did they wouldn't have to pay us. (However, if it's things you really want to do, they'll pay you big-time, strange but true.) However, happiness in life comes from hard work. Find something you love, work hard at it, and you'll be happy for the rest of your life; otherwise not.

A doctorate guarantees nothing at all. I know many people with doctorates who barely pay the bills. You have a FAR to high opinion of yourself. Get off your lazy butt and go to work.
