Domestic animals and pets are illegal to kill if they are killed inhumanely. You can put down a sick dog or cat and it is legal. The torture part is disturbing and illegal for social policy reasons obviously! If someone kills someone else's domestic animal or pet, they can also be sued civilly for trespass to chattel or conversion. Probably conversion if the animal is dead.

I have a dog that got sick with unknown. She didn't test positive for parvo but she did show signs of it. I pawned everything I had to pay her vet bills. They said there was no guarantee she would live. $1200 later she was getting back to normal. I watch her health carefully. She gets her check ups and shots regularly. Once a month worm and flea pill. I now know about pet insurance. I recommend it to anyone who takes on a pet.

Here is a simple question... Why is it ok to have an animal put to sleep yet when people such as the ones Dr. kevorkian Helped that was illegal? When the suffering is too much and you want to go home wherever it may be why is it not our right to choose?

You're a f***ing loser. I couldn't afford my cat's expenses either, but I sacrificed because I took on a responsibility when I adopted him. Two years of acupuncture and herbal treatments and a few thousand dollars - I just did without so my FRIEND could live. When it was his time, I did the HUMANE thing and euthanized him. It's humane...as long as it was an instant death with a shot to the head....with a bullet that wasn't to big...if it was a 45, then the head would have exploded like an egg thrown against the wall....that wouldn't have been cool. Hopefully they used a 22 or a 227...

I love animals and hate to see them in pain or mistreated. I work against the abuse everyday, but I commend you for doing something when you knew the cat was suffering. I have heard much worse. If only we should all be so lucky.

As a human if I got too old and sick and was just suffering I would much rather die at home in a familiar area than at a hospital where it is business as usual. As a very experienced animal and human caregiver, it is always better to die in your own known place than in an unfamiliar place where you are scared and just wanting home. From kittens to my grandparents the ones who passed at home passed easiest on them if not us...
