Like the one above, you suffer from clinical depression. There are treatments that are very effective, A simple pill everyday can make all the differnce in the world. They don't alter your reality they just balance your chemistry. When there is no tangible reason to feel the way you feel, chances are it's chemical. Get help... you see you have a good life, so why continue feeling like crap when you really don't have to. I have been on Prozac for a number of years and I'm telling you first hand, it works. There are many of these kinds of treatments, one will work for you.

^Please stop diagnosing people!!! Not everyone who is not happy has clinical depression. To the OP, yes, it may be worth looking into BUT you may also just need to find your bliss and sometimes that is hard to do in our culture because everything is focused on status and making money. Maybe you just need to find something you love doing and the time and space to do it. Not everyone needs a pill and sometimes those antidepressants make things worse.

^Getting help is the important part, and from a professional. I'm not diagnosing him or anyone but rather trying to show that there are remedies. You think telling someone to find their bliss is helpful. Most people don't even know what that means and in fact it means nothing, especially to someoe who is depressed and/or unhappy for whatever reason. Maybe you should tell him to "Don't Worry, Be Happy! At least Clinical Depression means something and is a place to start. Bliss? That's just something you heard on Two and a Half Men, sounds good if you grew up in the 60s. PUHLEEEZE! Think about what you're saying before you criticize someone who knows what they're talking about.

I have a wonderful husband of twelve years and am still madly in love with him. We have four beautiful children who are the world to me. I hope the OP is not my Shadow?

VOLUNTEER. Try giving time to the people who really need it. Donating is good, but time is more valuable than money. GO VOLUNTEER somewhere. ANYWHERE, make yourself useful to somebody else. Subconsciously, you could be thinking that you HAVE to care for your family (which is a good way to think) so you need to care for someone who is not related to you. Go volunteer an hour a week or day or however often it takes for you to feel useful. Have a servants' heart. There is no greater feeling than being selfless and coming through for people that you don't even know.

I know the feeling. Feels like she's just humoring you and is willing to trade up the second she's given the change? I feel that way about my situation too. :(
