I have known a few people like this. The little things you really need to let go.

Crap. You must have been neglected in some way growing up to have your guard set to super sensitive. Try with one or two people you have grudges against to reconsile your ability to forgive and forget.

Smoke a little marijuana! Instead of holding the small things in and letting them fester, you'll be laughing them out! Seriously.

Why? Because how dare they try to hurt me-- in any way? I never try to hurt them. So I hold a grudge. :( It's very sad and I wish I could stop.

Anger, fear, aggression... the dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.

Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate; hate leads to suffering.

OP, your follow up post reveals something about you. You say you never try to hurt them. That doesn't mean you DON'T, albeit inadvertently, but the fact you say "how dare they try to hurt me" suggests a personality disorder of some kind. Are you entitled to a hurt free life, or, do you place standards on humans which are so high, they can never meet them? Your language is harsh, defensive, but also aggressive. "How dare they try to hurt you in any way..." ? Very very aggressive comment, especially if coupled with what you call "petty grudges" which means whatever they have done to hurt you is indeed petty at times. Couldn't this mean they are just weak or inconsiderate, and YOU, dear, are the problem here? That you just set the bar so high you become insufferable? You just come across as arrogant with no patience. It's good that you recognize the problem and wish you could stop. Can you take some steps to do that? Anger Management is a great first step for you, based on your follow-up comment alone. You sound like an angry, angry person.

If someone wants forgiveness, they should ask. Even Jesus required sinners to ask. If they don't ask/try to make amends, then f*** em.
