Cancer is not a death sentence. You could meet a really cute nurse while getting treatment. I couldn't use an illness to guilt someone into staying with me. But I would probably keep my illness to myself and refuse treatment just because I would want out of a losing situation. But I think you have a lot of life left in you and should fight this with or without the ex. You have other family members and friends who will help you through.

You might start out by apologizing to your wife for all the sh*t you made her eat while you were with her. Then, since talk is cheap, you might try to think of some actions to try to make it up to her. If you are a man of means - immediately sign over all of your belongings to her. If you spent all of your earnings unwisely then she will probably not want to be your free nurse in your dying days because you would obviously be trying to take advantage of her good nature one more time.

This very same thing did happen to me and my husband. I stayed with him until he died, even though he had always been abusive. That was three years ago, and my feelings were so conflicted that I'm still f***ed up over it. If you truly love her, don't put her through that. You'll be gone, and she'll be left alone to deal with the mindf***.
