Don't do it! Let the selfish have them, take the high road. Granma will love and watch over you for it.

Agree with ^ above poster. Be better than them.

I understand exactly what the OP is saying. If I would have known about the arguments about the money. I would have burned it. It does make you see what people are made of in the end though, sad as that may be.

^^^Too true.

It is so sad that family will loosen ties over such objects. It is also sad when older relatives hold items up as a way to ensure they still rule the family. Rust, dust, fade and rot. The love in life should not. The treasured things of today are just tomorrows trash.

f*** 'em' break all that shit.

just do it...screw your family, they are not worth it, or worthy of the collection!!

Donate them to goodwill.

You will still be around after Granma is gone, as will the other members of the family. No point in alienating yourself from these people. Maybe they need the things to help remind themselves of Granma, maybe not. A temporary rush of satisfaction will not be worth the consequences of your actions, and those consequences may be far greater than you could have ever imagined. It took 25 years of hearing my mom say "Think before you act." before I finally understood it and internalized that pearl of wisdom. My life became much less complicated once I started to observe that "life lesson".

All those treasures will become garage sale fodder. It matters not. Keep the good memories and move on.

I did the same when my mom died and the release I felt was worth it all!

I get the feeling the person writing this post is either not very old or not very educated. Not everyone can spell perfectly, lay off and find someone else to be a dick to. You should let ugly people be ugly. Let them fight, chances are grandma has a will and they won't get a thing. If you start breaking things though you could get in trouble for property damage.

Who gives a crap if it's a collection, they're assholes to be arguing over shit before she's even gone. It's materialistic stuff....dumb ass.

I'm going to croak off in a few years myself. I wonder who's going to get my gun collection?

I know exactly how you feel, I lost my grandpa who I was really close too. No one offered to help when he was sick, but when he died, they sure showed up to take his stuff. It really makes me sick...if I had been brave enough it would have hurt less to have seen someone take a match and burn down his house :(....I'm going to be like Warren Buffett and leave my kids nothing

Depends on what she wouldv'e wanted. Mine was very outspoken about who she wanted to have things and who she didn't. Someone she hated is wearing her favorite ring, that eats me up! Especially since I felt like she was holding my hand when I wore it. Her husband stole the house from me as well. They lived next door and never came to see her. I lived there and took care of her. The least they could've done is walk over to give her a hug once in a while.

I know what thats like, my grandfather was in the hospital dying and the family didn't even wait! They went to his place and started taking shit! Fighting over it and dividing it....I really couldn't believe it...he was on his last breaths and they were acting that way

Just do it.

I saw this happen in a family that was not my own. Some people are no more than vultures.

Greed brings out the worst in people. I saw it when my grandfather died.

it happened in my family over 3 years ago when my Mom passed away and my brother and sisters had very little compassion whatsoever. They just wanted to sell her house so they could get some inheritance. I cleaned and fixed up her house myself without their help and sold it. Freeloading greedy disrespectful bastards. I haven't spoken to them since Mom died because it became very clear to me just how ignorant they are and I want nothing to do with them. RIP Mom.
