Do you rub the fuzz on your top lip? That's what I used to do when I was really little.

I used to rub flannel on my mouth and fold my tongue and suck on it 'til I was about 20, since then I just fold my tongue and suck on it... I'm 61. If it comforts you and it's not destructive... have at it!

What's wrong with picking fuzz off blankets?

I still suck my thumb, and I'm 20 years old. It's just a habit, everyone has them. I'm not hurting myself, or anyone else, so who cares.

I think perpetual thumbsuckers probably experience some form of trauma during early childhood. Seek counseling. It's weird.

Thumb sucking into adulthood is much more common than you would think. You'll probably stop eventually without even realizing it.
