tell someone you can trust that doesnt know her like a counselor at school or teen program or a hotline so you have someone to talk about your feelings too, because you love your mom and it hurts to know this is happening to her and you need someone to talk too about your feelings too. its very important.

Yeeeeeeaaaahhh, "special". That's too much pressure for a 14 year old. The mother should be getting help for the kid in dealing with it rather than the 14 year old helping/getting help for the mother. OP: tell someone yourself. Don't carry such a thing alone, it would be hard on an adult, too so don't beat yourself up either. Lung Cancer patients can go pretty fast so, get yourself some help as soon as you can.

wow, how heartbreaking! I totally agree with Reply #2 (though the part about "going fast" was a bit much!). Please get yourself some help. but don't keep it a secret from your mom. this is the time for COMMUNICATAION and HONESTY! she needs to know how you feel, as well as to impart whatever wisdom she has to you, as hard as it may be to hear. Take care little one. :)

Been there and still going threw it. My mom told me and to not tell anyone. I went crazy. Lost alot, All I can say is STAY STRONG....
You can do it. Spend time with her, stay in school and make her happy and proud of you for all your doing for yourself. Make a point to share your life with her (tell her about your day ect.) it means alot, and you will never forget the special moments you had. Again, stay strong your not alone........

To commenter #8, thanks for your help, but right now to me you're just another adult who thinks kids are so unbelievably "innocent." Do the teens a favor and get with the times. If you look there are a lot of teenagers on this site.

Wow! Not sure where to start. Putting whether it was right or wrong to lay this on you and you alone aside.. (I think you already know in your heart that placing that huge of a burdon on you--her child--and you alone is wrong!) No matter how mature you are, waking up with that and going to sleep with that and trying to go to school and all that in between, is just too much for ANYONE alone--especially someone your age. My heart breaks for you. Know that there is SO SO much support and love for those who have received this awful news and also for those that love them. The first step is to simply google your area and cancer support. You would be amazed at what you will find. Know one thing..YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! I wish there was some way to send you my email so we could talk more.
It is definitely a journey. One that no one can do alone. Please seek support. For what it's worth, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Step #1. Google. You can do this.

I never post comments but this is truly heartwrenching. I am sorry for your losses... the eventual passing of your mom and the passing of your youth. she only told you because she loves you and trusts you. she did not intend harm. just love her and be loved. my thoughts are with you.

I was around the same age as you when my dad got cancer and withered away in front of me... I know what it's like, but for your sake (and this is from my own experience) don't bottle it up inside. Holding that kind of pain inside for too long will catch up with you later...I am so sorry you're going through this. You are not alone though.

I had a friend who had cancer and ultimately survived but his 14 y/o got counselling anyway. You've got to go to the school guidance counsellor.
