Verbal abuse takes a terrible toll mentally. He may have been abused as a child himself, its up to you to break the chain. If you have children, as I do and was in the same situation, love them to the fullest and know that they are only little one time, once they are grown you can't get it back. Something that your father should have thought about.

The same thing happend to me I was also beat almost daily to this day the most comforting thing in the world is hiding under blankets on my closet floor.
