This is my life, but not my secret - people I trust know I am in recovery and look up to me because of it. I have a successful career and would not be the person I am today if not for my past. Besides, the straightest person at my work is a mean, crazy borderline who hurts people off her emotion fueled tirades.

Don't ever tell them. They will never look at you the same.

Well done, changing your life around. Isn't is funny that people who are your friends and co-workers now would have shunned you 15 years ago?

I had this problem too and thought i had everyone fooled into thinking i was a good guy. The truth is I am who they saw me to be. I wasn't that person I use to be. You probably are straight laced and you are fooling yourself into thinking that you aren't and are just fooling yourself. Let go of the things you did. If you were that person you wouldn't be where you are now. You would still be in that van.

That was 15 years ago, what they don't know won't hurt them.

good for you, i like you, turned your life for good, keep your head up, and dont look back, or even allow anyone at work to know your past, you live for the future, and they will destroy you if they knoq you have a weakness, be strong, and be drug free for life

4 years sober here. Congrats on staying clean because it's not easy. Most fail that try but the rest succeed. It takes true courage to stay clean or sober. Not everyone needs to know everything about your life, past or present.

Enjoy life and keep moving forward. Every positive event builds on the next and moves you forward in a positive light.Enjoy Life - It only lasts 100 or so years anyways.

Something I learned while training to play professional billiards. Dwell on your last game all of 30 seconds and then look forward to your next. If you live in the past, it WILL affect your future. You're a new man. Look forward to this newness.

i work with a very straight laced christian girl in the medical field, very good and loving with her patients. she just confessed to some of us that she used to strip and hook and do drugs. shes not like that now. she was trying to give hope and support to a coworker and it worked. her secret is safe with a chosen few. she feels a little relief cause she spent alot of time worrying someone will find out. no one judged

Aren't we awesome? We WERE who we were back then. We ARE who we are now. It's the reward we get for getting clean!

I LIVE THE SAME LIFE AS YOU DO. I AM A DIFFERENT PERSON, BUT I STILL HAVE A HARD TIME EXPLAINING WHY I HAVE THREE KIDS FROM THREE DIFFERENT DADS. I WISH I COULD JUST TELL THEM "I WAS DOPED OUT AND NOT THINKING, BUT I LOVE MY KIDS NO MATTER WHO THE DADS ARE, AND I AM A GOOD MOTHER SO LEAVE ME ALONE AND DON'T JUDGE" BUT I LIE INSTEAD AND SAY THEY ARE ALL FROM THE SAME MAN. :o)

This is alot of peoples secret, it's only important that you remember it everyday, cause you're just one bad decision from going back down that road
Remove this stupid comment

That is true for me as well. Most do not about my past. I learned early that it is difficult for people to hear things about your past life and I had to becareful of where I expressed myself about my past. Good idea not to mention it to co-workers an boss. Stick with those you trust with your life. Your past is a gift in truth because it made you and I the respectable, great people we are today. Keep up the fight and don't ever go back. Maybe volunteer to help other addicts. Your ok
