If you took the time to call and check on him then the pound SHOULD have called you before they put him down. That is on them. Go volunteer at the your local shelter and maybe help some other dog that needs it.

he was a great dog, he was nice and very loving. he was a stray dog that someone had neglected/abused. one day i came home about a month ago and he was in my driveway, very skinny, ribs and spine showing, cuts and scrapes all over him.....i pet him and he was nice, i fed him and put an old blanket by the back door for him to sleep on and then he stayed, he got healthy again and healed..he used to stand on his back legs and hug me, laying his head on me....crazy dog...by the way pit bulls are very good dogs, i know this from the short time he was around, god i miss that dog

Tell your wife to f*** off, that you are hurting because you loved the dog and go to the pound and get another pit. Give it all your love. I love my dog more than anything in the world and would never give him up, and my fiance knows it. Make sure your wife knows this is YOUR dog and she has no say in it.

How did you find out that they destroyed the dog? Was it mean? Is there a reason they would have destroyed it? How long was it in the shelter before being destroyed? I foster for my local shelters and it takes a long time or a definate reason for them to euthanize an animal. Information please.

that picture breaks my heart. i had a girl pit that looked exactly like that. we had to give her away b/c we moved into a house that didnt allow dogs. i gave her to someone i thought i could trust. she ran away a day after she was with her new family. they didnt even go look for her. she was only 2 years old. i will never forgive myself.

it was in the shelter for 4 days, they said they had to check him out and see if he had heart worms or anything or if he showed any signs of aggression they would have to put him down. He was a really sweet and nice dog, the way i found out is because i called the pound 3 times to check on him and the 2nd time I called they said they didnt get a chance to check him out because he wouldnt let anyone get near him, I called again in the morning to see how he was and I wanted to go get him back and that is when she informed me that they had to put him down. I cant believe it, I still feel alot of pain and hurt, everyone keeps telling me to get over it but they really do not care. there was no reason for him to die.
