I lost my beautiful boy 2 days before xmas. He loved to run fast and when we took him up to a state park scenic overlook he ran straight off a 200' cliff.

[op] I couldn't be home for Christmas after this, had to leave and be by myself for 2 days, didn't bring cell, no one knew where I was, I am still distraught. I still hear him, smell him, see hints and reminders of him, when I close my eyes I can feel him squeezing up against me in the bed. My son said he never broke stride as he went over the edge, like he thought he could just fly. We love and miss you Siegfried.

[op] Thank you all [above] for your comments. I know I will get over him but sometimes I don't want to, I just want to wake up and have him there again to feed and take out for exercise in the morning, and waiting for, expecting, that awakening isn't healthy for me. I know.

It's ok to feel the grief now, surrender yourself to it. You're honoring your pet. Make some kind of memorial for him. Have his ashes at home or scatter at his fav place or bury him in ur yard; pics of him at home on wall; something with his name on it.I wish you well. You're not alone :)

Very sorry for your loss, but I hope you learned the importance of leashes. I see this every day out on the trail. People need to understand why there are leash laws. It may not be in every state, but it's just common sense. I hope you find peace and a new companion of equal importance to you.
