maybe they have a reason. my father was never there, when he was he beat the hell out of us cursed us for ruing his life, never acknowledged any occasion, but when he found religion he wanted us all to forgive. i told him he would burn in hell on his death bed

Forgiveness is not meant for the person who "should" be forgiven, rather for the person who holds the grudge. Holding in hate and bitterness is unhealthy for anyone and does as much damage as the original "problem".

You sound like my sister who lives in New Bern. He molested me. He beat us. I pulled him off of you one night and the cops put me away in the psych ward for hitting him back and everyone stood up him. As far as everyone is concerned nothing happened. I went to college in Wilmington and I tried to make things right...but when no one wanted to change I moved on. Now you're a single mom and I'm successful.
