My mom died in 2007 - her death had a profound effect on me. I feel empty. I miss her.

MY mother is 86 and I'm 62. When she dies I'll never be the same. I'll have to go into grief therapy.

So sad. My dad died when I was 3 and I always wished that I had known him and when I was a teenager my sister (that was much older than me) told me he used to beat my mom and mess around on her.I guess I was lucky I was 3 and don't remember any of it.

I kind of see what you are saying. I miss my mom, but she did a lot of negative things to us in my childhood and adolescense, and I have really had to work on myself as an adult to be emotionally healthy. Abuse is not confined to one generation, it ripples into succeeding generations too.
