You'd give your life but hesitate at giving up your family?
You and your love and their child are choosing to create something NEW. It's your responsibility to each other to only take with you and nurture that which will strengthen YOUR FAMILY, discard the negative without pause and the indifferent as need be.
I suspect the family you've known won't make, live with and support a single decision as a unit.

I thought the same of my family, and so did my wife about hers.
She's white, I'm black. Anyway, it worked out after about one full rocky year where they were rooting for us to fail. BUT we succeeded! We actually became a very strong couple trying to prove our families wrong.
Now even my East Texas grandma loves my wife and they go out shopping every once in a while. We've actually changed out entire town for the better and everybody we meet has seemed to shed their bad feelings and bad looks.

I had my son's doctor ask me if my mom was part of my family. I said yes! He said she is? Then it hit me...my husband and my son are my family. Your parents love you. They will accept it. Even if it takes a while. The love you have for your children is truely unconditional!!!
