I've come to the realization, that no matter how much I try to be there for my family they will never be there for me.

I do for my family all the time. I would like for them to make me a priority some time. I don't ask for much. example... when i missed a phone call from my child and i call her back.. she says.. Oh mama... i didn't mean to call you, i was just playing on my phone. I mean!!!.... don't tell me that!!! just say... hi.. how are you. i don't have long to chat.. etc.

I hear you loud and clear! I totally feel the same way. I have been there for each and everyone of them and now that things are rough for me - there is no one!

This is my family as well, I quit expecting anything from my self serving family. You will be amazed how liberating it is to be reliant on yourself, if you stop expecting you cant be disappointed. And I will be there for my kids, grandkids etc!! God bless you.

Seems to be a pattern in america these days. I have always gone out of my way to help out, be it money, a place to stay, a shoulder to cry on, you name it and I've been there to help out. But when I'm in need they all say the same thing, too busy, not my problem, ect. It's sad really, what happend to the days when family backed you up no matter what.

Yeah, but you can sleep easier knowning you're not a selfish bastard. You have the moral high ground, my friend. Small compensation, but worth remembering. People who do good deeds are generally more content with life. Don't let the selfishness of others deter you. Take care.

What the...? I'm the poster before last. What on earth are you talking about? I never even mentioned my family or needing help. Someone's projecting. Get help, you need it!

My family is the same way. It makes me very sad that I am in need of their simple companionship since I haven't been well but they are too busy.

I thought my family was like this, but when I showed them I didn't need them, they realized they needed me more than they thought. Now we help each other out and act like a family. I love them to death, but some days disowning them looks more and more appealing...

I know the feeling. When my mom passed, I was the one there for my dad and brother. They never even said thanks. Been 15 years and have not received one call from either one. Try calling them and they dont wanna talk. Will never understand where the family unity has gone. Its sad but it happens all over the country.
