My dad has, to my knowledge, never said he loves me. My mom has said it on occasion... My grandma tells me she loves me everytime we talk. The first time, it threw me off because no one ever said they love me, so I didn't respond back. Now I tell her I love her every time I see her. My family wonders why she doesn't have a temper around me...

But grandma always gets angry and yells at all her children and grandchildren, every single one of them. I never see it, I don't know why. I love her for not doing it around me.

Aside from my grandma, I tell my mom I love her when I'm on campus for school and I talk to her. I also tell my aunts that I love them too. I started saying I love you only about 5 years ago, before I never really meant it (I never said it before). Now, I know I mean it...

Mine didn't either but I know that he did.

Good for you. I made the same choice!

Good for you! My own father was distant and it was this, along with the fact she's adorable, that I tell my daughter each day that I love her.

Just know that you have a Father in Heaven that loved you before you came forth and will love you when you leave, and every day HE says I love you by blessing you with another day to speak those words into your daughter's spirit.

grow up...heaven and hell are not places you go to after you die. they are states of mind in your day to day life.

I can't remember the last time my "dad" said that to me.... I wish I didn't care.

I know just how you feel. In fact, I'll tell my daughters tomorrow.

You renew my faith in humanity. My parents were the same way. There has not been day where I have not told my son I love him.

My parents were nothing but walking hatred for each other and their 4 kids. We never heard the "L" word ....ever. My son is 16, and has heard the "L" word every day of his life.

I'm 36 and my Dad has never once said it to me. My advice for young fathers out there with sons who think they are too tough ass to say I love you...I promise, your son will be far less f***ed up if you tell them you love them.

I am a father of a fourteen year old girl. i remember saying the exact same thing. and i have kept my word for 14 years.

My father could only say "I love you" to me when he was drunk and drifting off to sleep. Growing up, my Mother never said it. I am the same way

My Mom or Dad could never say I love you. We knew they loved us but they just could not say it. My Dad wispered it to my Mom when he was dying. That was SAD but I'm glad he told her.

I have never heard my dad say it either. 53 yrs here, but if you pay close enuf attention, he is showing it in lots of other little ways...Just not his style! Isn't mine either. And the older he gets, the more I can see it! P.S. I hear people over-use the word love...soon it goes in one ear and out the other and it never meant what the word actually means?

Is there a word limit? It cut off the rest of my comment(above)..I always say I LOVE YOU to everyone!

I GREW UP IN A FAMILY WHERE THOSE THREE WORDS WERE NEVER SPOKEN AND ALL THREE OF US KIDS HAVE MAJOR PROBLEMS - DON'T HAVE CHILDREN IF YOU CAN'T TELL THEM YOU LOVE THEM!!!!!

My alcoholic father's favorite words of endearment for me were "little a** ****" to spite my mother who was brave/smart enough to leave him. My child will NEVER be talked to like that and at age 11 knows what being loved feels like.

just because he doesnt say it, doesnt mean he doesnt.

Maybe a spoiled little b**** gets what she deserves. She still lives with her mother, has a daughter, and still does not have a clue.
