I quit my low hundreds job to spend my life's savings to return to school to become an RN, which pays half as much, so I could help people. My clinical instructor was a heartlesss b**** who drove me to quit. Now I'm unemployed, and finding a job in this economy is a nightmare, especially if you're not young.
And money problems are NOT fun!
Unless your physical health begins to suffer, it might be better to stay at your job. Remember that old saying, "The grass is always greener..."

Find a home near water or nature... it really makes the other 16 hours of the day a joy. You'll find you can easily walk away from the overtime/extra hours knowing that a beautiful sunset awaits you. For what it's worth I make under 20k and life is rocking, and I'm doing what I enjoy ( and it's one huge rollercoaster emotional thrill ride too ). Don't forget good friends.
