I'm proud of you! The 25th of this month will be a year for me and I also quit cold turkey. I smoked like a chimney for more than 30 years and decided one day that I just didn't want to do that any more. I've spent the last 11 months apologizing to people for how badly I smelled...Keep it up! I know it is probably of little consequence, but I'm proud of you :)

The only way to quit smoking is to not smoke. It's not a big secret. Now someone explain to me how to stop eating.

Congratulations OP and to all the others on the board for quitting smoking. I need to do this myself. I keep telling myself that when things settle down and I am not so stressed out, that I will. I just need to do, instead of trying to pick the 'correct' time. I am proud of all of you.

OP here... I've smoked off n on since about 13 an I'm early 40's now about half pck a day. People say smoking is a physical addiction but I believe the strongest part of that is mental if you conquer that your home free.

Good for you!!! I too quit cold turkey 16 years ago.I had just bought 2 cartons of cigarettes. I opened one pact and smoked half of one cigarette then I just put it out and said "THAT's It!" Went to bed. The next day I put the 2 cartons with the 1 cigarette missing in a tin box. They remain there even today, July 14, 2011. Never smoked again!

Good for you on just doing what you ened to do. i think the key is not saying what your going to do but just doing it without attention seeking like so many people do. I did the same thing with my health and I have lost 15lbs so far nobody noticed yet lol and thats col I still never mention it either. I just do it.
