Witchcraft is a very FICTIONAL matter. If it worked, it would be commonly known. As simple as that. People performing pathetic tricks which they call witchcraft but which is quite obviously simple stage magic just makes it more obvious. It's just a religion and a ridiculous one at that. It makes great fare for novels, though.
