WOW. I hope this precious child knows that you cared so much. It makes a difference to know you are loved. You did your best. I bet she feels this in her little heart.

Write letters to her and save them, I had a man in my life that split with my mom and when I grew up I he found me. He gave me letters he had written to me but never sent for years... 3 years later, he walked me down the aisle.

1^ Now that is good advice. Write letters to give her later when she will understand even more. I am keeping a journal and it will help my children when I am gone. They will see how much I loved them and how I felt love and caring from them. Written words are powerful and will last through the years.Good for you for trying.

^^^2 up. God, I am a man and you almost made me cry. I am in the same situation as the OP. Except it is my ex's granddaughter and daughter. The former is 13, the latter is 21. I heard through the grapevine that she had a child out of wedlock this year. I would have contacted them long ago. But I cannot bring myself to tolerate the notion that my exwife will have any contact with me. Even indirectly.

3^ It's me again..... To Mr 1^ Don't let your exwife ruin a wonderful relationship you could have. Being a single mom is hard, I've been one for 4 years and I wish I had more family and people close to me and cherish the ones I do have.
