Don't turn to your God. I mean, think about it. For God so loved the world, he let it go to shit.Your answer is to learn from your mistakes. The largest step is to recognize what you have done. I learned a long time ago, people forget. Just look at the screwed up politicians who get reelected. People forget their elected official's political skeletons from one election cycle to the next. Even Richard Nixon has a better reputation than he did when he was president. So does Bill Clinton. For those who have not forgotten what you have done, they will forgive when they see you changing your ways. I have seen countless times in my life and in others when this has happened. Don't be so hard on yourself. You will be fine, if you will become more forgiving of yourself and try, I mean really try, to be a better human. I think it's the easy way, asking god for either forgiveness or to give up on you. Why not go to the people you've hurt and make amends if you can. They are probably still here, and hurting. God is not.
