Smoking is really, really hard to quit. Don't listen to the haters. I understand. And really, your child has already gotten past the SIDS risk stage, which is the reason they tell you not to smoke when you are pregnant. Still, keep trying. One time it is bound to stick.

^Idiot. SIDS is NOT why they tell you not to smoke while pregnant. They tell you that because it's harmful to their entire development. Only fools smoke to begin with. We should let them smoke so they kill off their moronic offspring.

Good grief people, give her a break... She knows she shouldn't have smoked while she was pregnant and is regretful of it! To the OP: it's good to want to quite for the sake of your child, but you ultimately need to quite for yourself. That's the only way to quite for good. You are worth it. : )

My psych. professor said that a nicotine habit is harder to crack than a heroin habit.

^I hope you don't have children yourself. You are even more frightening.

Smoking while pregnant is a crime worthy of sterilization, so she'll never inflict her selfishness on another baby.
Remove this stupid comment

^Hey crazy mean person. You should smoke a cigarette to take the edge off.

Sooner or later, we will have laws to deal with sociopaths like the OP. When pregnant women or people with children are seen smoking, they will be imprisoned and their children taken from them.

^2 up - your psych professor? Sorry, but psych professors have absolutely no professional knowledge about chemical addictions. You might as well listen to your butcher.

f*cking quit smoking mama

You're a horrible person. Period. You are inflicting poison on your baby, and you should be jailed for child abuse. Either get help now, or let someone with a sense of ethics raise the child.

2^ If you were born in Mexico, and "moved" here illegally, you'd be set for life...

^^^ 6 Up ^^^ Hey, Moron. My psychology professor is an addiction clinician. He said that former addicts confirmed to him that their heroin habit was easier to kick than their cigarettes. He said it was because cigarettes are all around the common smoker and this makes it far more difficult to quit.

^4 As a women before a law can arrest me for smoking while pregnant there better be laws to ensure that my child has the best medical arrention, that I won't loose everything if i am place on bed rest, that I will get a proper amount of time to be with my new born, that I alwayshave a proper meal... etc... People like you only want laws that punish people not laws that support people.

^4-- uh, actually someone with a Ph.D is psych has probably studied chemical addiction for years, and knows a bit more than you. Besides, the fact that cigarettes are harder to quit than heroin has been known for YEARS. It's in every addiction textbook on earth. Do a little research, idiot.

Okay, there has got to be people on here just posting troll comments. REALLY?!? Smokers should lose there kids?!? Come on, be reasonable, folks.

It's mind over matter. You can quit if you really want too.

^this! ((((hugs momma!))))

Wow... funny how if you are an alcoholic or a heroin user, you have a disease. But if you got stuck with the adiction that all specialists agress is the hardest to quit, you are a horrible person. You aren't a horrible person, hon. You're just an adict. Please keep trying. Never give up trying.

^and i bet she feeds her kids formula! CHILD ABUSE!!!
Remove this stupid comment

Yep, she's definitely a horrible person. Anyone with half a brain would have gotten help by now. She's selfish and shallow. And probably sleeps around.
Remove this stupid comment

^the op is not a horrible person, you are a judgmental prick who has to take things to the extreme. i am almost 10 months pregnant (a non smoker) and i feel bad for her....op my grandma used acupuncture to help her quit and it really worked! good luck.

To OP - you are NOT doing the best you can, you're doing the best that you WANT to do. Have you been hospitalized for withdrawal? NO? Then you're not trying very hard, are you? So what if you don't smoke in the car - you're still saturated with poison, which contacts your child. Sucking on your cancer sticks is more important to you than your child. People like you should be sterilized.

^ I was "socially and culturally pressured" at a young age too - I just simply chose to resist it because I have a strong mind and will. And to ^2 up, smoking most definitely IS a moral and ethical issue when a helpless child is involved. Willingly poisoning a child like the OP is doing should be a felony. Smoking is only for the weak - they give in to pressure because they're weak and they can't quit because they're weak. Period.

(OP here) I have smoked since i was 14. I am 25 now. I have tried meds, the e-cig all that and still no luck. Yes did smoke while pregnant and feel shitty about it everyday. Yes i still smoke but at least i dont do it inside or around my child (like my mother did... riding in the car with the windows rolled up smoking). I am doing the best i can...

^2 up-- Clearly, you have never been an addict. I don't think getting socially and culturally pressured into doing something at age 13 and stuck with an addiction for the rest of your life is much of a choice. I don't even know any smokers who WANT to be smokers anymore. They are all trying to quit and have realized too late that they are hooked through the nose with one of the most difficult addictions known to man.

^This lady is not the "shallow, weak" poster here. She WILL quit, in her own time. You on the other hand, will never stop judging others! Smoking is not a moral or ethical issue, it's a vice.
Remove this stupid comment

^4 up - Nobody gets "stuck" with being addicted to nicotine. They chose that addiction by smoking in the first place. You smokers need to stop making excuses and just admit that you're weak, shallow people.

Did your baby have a low birth weight? Was it born missing any limbs? I know people who are over a 100 who've smoked all their lives. And, I've known people who look perfectly healthy who've dropped dead from heart attacks. It's all a crap shoot!
Remove this stupid comment

That doesn't make you a monster!! C'mom people, child molesters are monsters not women that smoke during pregnancy... Was it the best choice? No. Are you a MONSTER? HELL NO!!
Remove this stupid comment

It's hard to stop doing something that you like that's now become a habit and part of your life. If you could just try NOT to smoke around your child that's a plus. There are those of us who try to quit gambling, over eating, swearing, drinking.. you name it! We all have a vice and we all need understanding people who can relate to what we're going through! I totally get it and I hope we can all break our unhealthy habits for our children's sake! STOP CONDEMING PEOPLE! These people need to be UP LIFTED! Not put down!

^or don't have any friends, who the hell would be friends with people who think that way? They've never done anything with thier lives, so they've never had the chance to make a mistake, which is how we learn, which makes them insecure

Why do I secretly suspect all these people who feel comfortable judging the health of others are all fat-asses who never move and eat at McDonalds?
