That is up to the child to decide not you. You have no right to take him away. If he is a bastard your child will see that but if you don't let the child see that for themselves they will blame you..... forever!!

yeah, that's smart, put the burden on the kid... my mom stayed with my bastard dad for twenty years, I was out of the house by the time they divorced, and yeah, he was a shitty alcoholic dad. know what? years of abuse and fighting, guess who I blame? not dad.... op, you made the right choice. once you become a parent, the child's needs come first. just put all your love into the kid, your wounds will heal over time. :) good luck to you.
