he has a good home life. 2 parents that love him and provide for him. I am a stay at home mom. I think the one comment was right about his intelligence. we had him tested and his IQ is extremely high. He relates better to his older cousin (24) than to kids his own age. Plus he questions everything, and teachers hate that!!

okay beating and strict disapline are two different things but I agree that children NEED dicipline, a lot fo it really. Also don't forget your children are usually just a close reflection of you. Look deeper.

He's probably more intelligent than his peers and senses it, and misbehaves out of boredom. Find out what his strengths and interests are, get him to pursue his interests and redirect his attention. Martial arts may be a start...keep him busy physically as well as teaching discipline.

you can send your 9 yr old to the middle east and I'm sure he will come back a saint after seeing first hand what life "could" be like.

Have you had him tested he could have ADHAD or ODD. You should talk to your doctor. Maybe some of the things is out of his control. Also talk to his teachers and see if there is a problem at school.

2^ I turned out good but if you don't have faith in it, your kid will end up lashing out on you and beat your ass, so, let me come over for a day and i'll take care of your problem guaranteed!!! Other than that, if you're not the solution then you're the problem!

HELLO HE WANTS YOUR UNDIVIDED ATTENTION. You would be surprised if you took the time to look him in the eye when he is talking to you and really have a conversation - he will start to move away from "attention getting" behavior. Take more time for just him and give him all of your attention. Remember he didn't ask to be here - you brought him here!!!!

I had four daughters and then a son. My son is 17 now. He has been created more stress to me than all the girls combined. I beleive it is caused by his screwed up values. The pper pressure. His buddy's think it's cool to piss everybody off, so that's what he does. He wants to be a marine sniper. I was totally against him going into the military. But now, I think it might be a chance for him to grow up and face reality.

For the comment 2 up. This is text book psych 101. I tried that. Boy scouts, litte league. I even became a volunteer fireman with my son to get his attention. These things helped some. But he is encompassed in the new (we don't have a generational word for it it yet like generation X) that is bathed in the value of disrespect and contempt for everything extant.

He needs discipline, don't just go on thinking he will outgrow this, it will take hands on effort and if he feels you have givin up so will he.

It's amazing that people can jump to bad parenting, or that he's not disciplined enough!!! My 8 year old is the same way...he is extremely smart--straight A's since Kindergarten, but he has a terrible temper. When you find the answer...let me know!^10, I'll love to see how your attitude changes if you ever have a child that doesn't respond to "beatings". In some children it makes the behavior worse...when you have kids then come give some advice!
