Some cities have awesome public transit and are really nice to live in. Do some research and think about moving. I've lived in places where you didn't need to drive because there were convenient other methods to get around.

I too had the same fear as you. But I had to get over it because I got a job where the only way I could get there was by car. I suggest you take baby steps--start off by driving around your neighborhood. Stay in the right lane and stay within the speed limit. Then drive to the nearest grocery store until you're comfortable enough to go onto the highway or drive to the next town. If you get stressed behind the wheel, listen to some music that will relax you and keep your mind off your nervousness. Good luck!

I taught myself how to drive at 26. I was afraid of driving also. Now I love it! I'm 29 now and my little brother lives in Boston. I am able to go see him all the time. I take my family on vacations, I love to get in the car and just explore the backroads of vermont. I'm telling you it's awesome! At first I white knuckled the steering wheel but I got over it after time. Sometimes I get stressed but I find chewing gum is a great stress reliever. It keeps you from clenching your jaw too tight. Just keep your speed down and don't stress what the guy behind you is doing. And don't take your eye off the guy in front of you. Good luck.

Add a cell phone to the mix and you're all set for a 20 car pileup on I-40.

Don't listen to these jerks. Grab your fear by the balls, look it in the face and say good bye to it and then drive your car over it repeatedly

Get a carload of girls together... primping in the mirrors, yakking on cell phones, talking about the guys they blew last night, and call me from the county jail after your wreck. I had a friend who could steer around curves with his knee while rolling a joint at 65 mph. No wonder women suck in NASCAR.
