"we don't have to worry about him getting arrested for doodling on a desk!" yea that's the truth or maybe carrying a pocket knife and having a permanent record or even being labeled a terrorist . All of the wonderful zero tolerance policies caused by parents who never noticed their kids carrying bazookas to school lmao

I Do care if my kid has an education but I believe 8 hours a day is more than enough time a day to spend learning. Most adults only spend 8 hours a day on their job btw

Me too. I remember the days we had to drive to the library and look up our information.

Wow what turns in this convo. Jail time for the little second grader (who will surely need therapy because mom did his take aways) , blow jobs on the back of the bus, humiliation by the Indians (didn't we defeat them before public schools existed hmm), handcuffs for the poor doodler before he has a chance to sneak that bazooka in. Did I miss anything?

Yes, Yes !!! Tar and feather her !! Lord knows we don't have enough children in the foster care system and she is every bit as bad as people who leave their children sitting in feces for days on end, smoke meth in their presence, put their children in cages and burn them with cigarettes. Get this b*tch now and make her pay !!

I was the one that posted this and let me tell you my son's teacher sends an average of 3 pages of math homework, 2-3 pages of English, wants him to read 45 minutes a night, 2 pages of Social Studies and let's not forget the spelling list and the at least once a week art project. Somewhere in all this I am supposed to get him fed, bathed and clothes set out for the next day not to mention all my other household chores..washing dishes, vacuuming , washing clothes ect. It has become way past ridiculous. My son is well groomed, fed and YES he does bring home passing grades on all work as well as tests done at school. You want to see my as a lazy parent be my guest.

I use to do my son's school projects for him too just because it was easier than the nagging at him to do it and then him always waiting til last minute. All the stress was too much. I got all A's on them too!

this is why i am going to homeschool....if kids actually learned this stuff while they were IN school eight hours a day you wouldn't need to spend 2-3 hours a nite on "homework". the first half of the year the review and the second half they teach, then summer where the kids forget then start it all over again. what a waste of time!!! homeschooling is so much easier :)

|
^Sure maybe home schooling is easier. So many home-schooled kids end up lacking social skills. If public schools are a problem there are private schools. As for the whole summer break, there all kinds of free summer educational programs. Good Luck

I make my kids their own math. I had to do mine then they can do thiers, although I help if they have a question. You will make them lazy and going to ask you to do EVERYTHING later on.

So will you serve their time in jail? Maybe pay their rent? Perhaps you could just talk to the therapist for them too? You are showing them that you will fix it all anyway and they will end up suffering, but hey it's easier on you right.

This is why the American education system simply doesn't work. It teaches kids to memorize data, but does NOT teach them to learn. Every parent needs to switch to unschooling, and instill true education in their children. The American system was designed by socialists who were trying to create a working class with basic skills. Is that what you want your child to be?

You should be happy the elementary teachers actually want him to learn something. Do you want him to get to high school with a 2nd grade reading level, or what? I hated remedial dumbf***s I went to school with. They get a f***ing diploma too?

You need to STFU...I did my kid's work and he graudated and is smarter than most others his age. You have no clue what you're talking about. You think parents who cared enough to sit down and look over their kids homework and periodically do it for them are the parents of all the criminals?? You obviously didn't make it through fifth grade.

^ "Doing it with them" and "doing it for them" are two totally different things. Mom typed some of my reports because she could type more accurately and 10 times faster than me. But, I'm the one who wrote it all down on paper, and asked her to give me advice on word usage. Kids today probably get pissed when the printer jams. I got pissed when I spent a half hour typing on a typewriter then noticed the mistake in the first sentence and had to do it all over again.

Who in the world would want their kid(s) to read Shakespeare in preschool? I'm sure I could have read the words too back then; but, did you actually comprehend that bullshit?

^^i'm sorry but eight hours a day isn't enough for a 7 year old? they need 10 hours a day? what the FuCk? are you high right now? kids also need to go run around outside and climb trees and feed apples to horses and poke snapping turtles with sticks and go pick arrowheads.....when the hell are they supposed to have time to go do that if they have to spend 10 hours a day sitting still??? bonding time my AsS! let kids be a KID!!!

Nothing wrong with it. I did it for my son and it made life way easier. He graduated and is not lacking in education. I could do his homework and teach what they did in school in 2 hours.

I hope you plan on supporting his dumb ass the rest of your life. What a moron. If raising a child is too much for you maybe you should turn him over to someone who will. I could read Shakespeare by the time I was in preschool, these are the kids your child will be competing with the rest of his life. At least give him a start on a level playing field.

Teachers are too busy at school thrying to teach the kids the basics that weren't taught at home, that is the reason for so much homework. If your children knew how to sit down, shut up and listen then maybe you wouldn't have so much homework. By the way, homework is an opportunity for you to bond and spend time with your child, not just park his butt in front of the tv while you make dinner and have a cocktail. You decided to have a child, he didn't ask to be born, you need to take this seriously. It is a life you are messing with. In fact, it is YOUR child's life, I would hope that makes it very important.

10^r eally? homeschooled kids have problems learning social skills? when i was 14 and riding the bus home from public school and saw a senior giving a guy a blow job in the seat next to me....was that an important thing to "learn"? did it help me with my "social skills"? i don't want my kid exposed to that kind of crap, and by the way homeschooled kids have a ton of resources (and higher rates of completing college), you are talking out of your aSs!

All you "You're hurting your child" people are IDIOTS! It is more important that a child has time to be a CHILD! School is for schoolwork, this whole 2-3 hours of homework per night for a first-grader is BULLS**T! We have home schooled our 12 year old for over 5 years now, and I can guarantee you he has more social skills than most kids in school, plus, we don't have to worry about him getting arrested for doodling on a desk!
