she has the right to know you dont have to tell her she is going to die. You have the responsibility to educate her on it, so if you aren't,educate yourself on the disease and help her understand. You and her will be in my prayers.

I have had Lupus for 20 years, I didn't think I would live this long. It is affecting my heart now. But with good Dr. for the Lupus and a great family Dr. who communicate well together makes all the difference in the world on treatment. I am only 51 and I hope I live to see all my grandchildren grow up. I will pray for her daily.

Kids aren't as dumb or blind as we adults always think they are. Your daughter will find out one way or another. Either by over hearing, or just figuring it out. I wish you all the luck because if it were my sons I would probably die inside. I may not be the best dad but i love them.again....good luck and God speed.

I think you are being very brave here and I agree with another commenter who said we're all going to die one day. Keep raising her the way you would and loving her as much as you do. She has an amazing parent in you. God Bless you!

If your child had 3 months to live with terminal cancer would you tell her then? Time is irrelevant. Your child's life is HER life. You must tell her so she can DO the things SHE WANTS TO DO. When her body starts to shut down THEN you will tell her? By then it will be TOO late for her to go out and do the things she chooses. How will she feel about you holding back that info then? Don't live in fear! TELL HER!!

Oh my God I am so sorry for what you are going through. No parent should ever have to face that. But sadly many do. All I can say is Love her every moment that you can and build memories that will last your lifetime.I am not sure if I would tell her she only has a few years to live . Just make every moment count hon. I am so sad for you and your family.

Lupus is not a death sentence. My mother, 3 aunts and grandmother have it. My mother was told she would die at a young age and she is now 59. She found an amazing specialist that has taken care of her meds through the years. Sure, she has bad days, but many good ones too. My aunt got sick and went to the hospital and they just blamed it on the lupus and didn't check her out. She died of a gul-bladder erruption. So, be careful with follow through on her dr. Good luck to you sweety!

She is old enough and has every right to know so that she can live her life out the way she chooses to.
