White here: Malcolm X trip to Mecca was an eye opener for him. He saw how Muslems of all races were like brothers regardless of skin color. This is one reason why he became disenchanted with the Nation Of Islam.

Right on the money! Malcolm X told it like it was, both about whites and about blacks. Decades ago, Malcolm X said: "I don't blame the white man for not wanting to live with negro the he lives now." Over fifty years later, little has occirred to change that.

Latino here: Malcolm X was big when we were coming up, and Malcolm told white people like it was! But also he told the brothers to "get with the program" if they wanted respect, because respect has to be earned. (And MLK would not do this!) Before he was murdered,Malcolm X came to realize that racial hatred was a dead end, and he was begaining to reach out to whites, and all other races. His death was a great loss to all, not just to the brothers!
