losing a parent is one of the hardest things a child will ever have to do. it doesn't matter if you are 5 or 50 it still hurts the same and feels like a piece of you is gone....just realize that you are doing a good job in the circumstances that you have been dealt and your mom would be really proud of you for stepping up and helping your dad.

If you need a break, call your hospital, church, or dr. they may give you a volunteer so that you don't become overwhelmed and have a chance to take care of yourself. Good job on the soberness, this may be your opportunity to repair damages of the past, as well as giving you the purpose to succeed. Thank you for caring for him, nursing homes are about as nice as the pound.

Congratulations on being sober. I admire you for taking care of your dad, and that alone shows your compasion and the love you have for your parents. Your mother would be proud, and your dad is lucky to have you. May you be blessed.

I lost my mum a couple of years ago and I believe I will grieve the loss the rest of my life. I am so deeply saddened for your loss. In her last few years, my mother's health deteriorated significantly and she often said, "The machinery is breaking down." She was right. Almost all of us deal with the loss of our parents, and it was one of the hardest things I ever had to deal with. May G-d bless you with the courage and strength to carry on. See if you can honor her memory by living your life according to the values she taught you.

My Dad's been gone 10 years now. Without the hope of seeing your loved ones in the next life, I don't know why anyone would want to live or enjoy life now.
