i have personal experience with addiction and the hardest and i mean hardest part of the whole process of recovery is telling on your self.....and it has to start there so yes your anger is justified.....but rather look at it as the best bad news you ever heard....

If no one told us they were addictive, we wouldn't be addicted would we? I took my pills the way it stated to, and when I was done, I was done. I didn't know I should think about being addicted. You are all enablers. He just can't sh*t and needs an enima. Do you really want to help with that?

I can see how someone can get addicted to pain pills. The 2 times I was prescribed them I really did enjoy them. You just have to have some will power. Hell of a drug though.

Best thing you can do for him right now is just be there, listen, and support him. For an addict to tell the truth and reach out for help takes a LOT of courage - take some time to work out your anger, then just be there for him and know that it will all work out one way or another. Good luck!!

I AM an addict and THIS is one of the big reasons why I havent gotten help. I do not want to upset the ones I love. The sad thing is that I became addicted YEARS ago and had no idea they were addictive and I thought that I did not have an addictive personality so it wouldnt happen to me. They were prescribed to me and I never once heard from my doc "be careful!" so this is far more wide spread than ANYONE knows. HELP HIM!!!! To admit it means he is ready to make it stop. Detox from pain killers is like dying. I have a break down just THINKING about it. HELP HIM

Don't be pissed off be there for him . At least he is admitting he has a problem . I have a nephew that pops any pill in his mouth he can get his hands on and has came close to dying a few times because of this . But he won't admit he has a problem so no one can help him. Hang in there just stand by your brother your moral support means a lot.

He may/may not be able to do it alone, but why would you be pissed at him? Alot of the times, it's not the addicts decision to become addicted to things like pain pills. These days, manufacturers make their pain pills addictive, which is why they require a prescription. Please, just help him and not be angry at HIM, it's ok to be angry at the situation though.

ALOT OF THE PAIN MEDICATIONS ARE CLASSIFIED AS DEA 1‚2‚3‚4 WHICH SRE HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. I WORKED FOR A PRESC. DRUG COMPANY AND U WOULD BE SUPRISED HOW MANY PPL GET ADDICTED TO THESE PILLS.

the best thing you can do is realize this is NOT what he wanted and it wasnt to hurt you, as the daughter of an addict, you need to be there for him, he wants help which says a lot. HELP HIM. If you make him feel worse, he will shut you out. Be there for him.
