This can happen easily. You can "know" the other person, and you can swap photos, and you can speak on the phone. You here their life story, and know that they have overcome difficulties, or achieved great success. You can certainly feel very close to them. But unless you can touch them, and taste them it is ahrd to be certain of the whole package.

^ Maybe! Maybe thats it. But is there anything wrong with a spicy adventure, that could turn into something real. You use the term "escape" fantasy. You "escape" from Alcatraz or Stalag 17, but what about a "change" fantasy, or a "life" fantasy, something that is like a summer break. Just taking a few weeks off to visit Griselda, and do something different. Maybe you will stay, and it was the best move of your life. Maybe you stay 4 weeks and realize your mistake, but you took a shot anyway. Then you come home, with tail between legs, and say "Honey, I am home!!!".
