Wow. I live in Killeen. You know, the military town associated with Ft. Hood? And this shooting was very surreal. It was like it was the worst thing that ever happened but at the same time no one gave a shit. You know? We are all jaded. I feel terrible for the families and wish it had never happened. But people in this town are hardened against what normal people would deem a tragedy. We are a military town. We face death. We grieve. We move on. I'm scared by how easy it's all become for us.

That's not the guy that posted, that's the gut that went on a killing spree on a base. I don't remember all the details, but it's our military's fault he ended up doing that. He was a Muslim. I understand from the news that after 9-11 he was the subect of so much hate, and harrassment he asked to be released from duty. Several people have acknowledged this fact from friends of his, to other enlisted, and command. He requested to be allowed out of the military on numerous occasions on the basis of the condemnation that was put upon him repeatedly, it was not approved. Now, this nation originated because those that came here wanted religious freedom. How does the military have the right to keep him in the position he was in. He was harrassed and degregated for years before he lost it. Cruel and unusual is an understatement. There he was trying to be his best, all by himself, surrounded by his 'Brothers" on a base, in the barracks, surrounded and trapped by people that hated him and his religion. People blinded, ignorant, and vindictive over a situation he had nothing to do with, and wasn't indicative of his beliefs. What are we going to start hanging suspected witches again? What about you folks do a little research, and enjoy your wonderful life and your freedoms. Know that those freedoms, nay luxuries, come at a price for all of us. Most tragicly and unexplainably the ability for us to be narrow minded bigots.

My husband is military and there are just as many people who harass him for being a Christian as the Muslims that serve beside him. everyone has a choice, and if the choice you make is to take out your frustrations shooting up innocent unarmed people that it is you with the problem.
