I turned my life over to Jesus Christ earlier today. I feel better already! I am ready to step on the gas to be a better man, father and husband. To my wife :)

^a lot of times when people make life altering lifestyle changes having faith gives them comfort through the hard times. that is valid and if it helps them deal with the stress good for them. on the flip side you still have to do the work to make the changes, god and jesus won't do it for you. most times when you try to change long standing negative behaviors it is a struggle because you need tools and support to know HOW to change. that is the key to long term success when treating negative or addictive behavior. if you feel more comfortable in a christian setting go out and find a church that has counseling services available. having that type of a resource is critical in any type of recovery, whether it be mental, emotional, spiritual or physical!

Try focusing on real things, like your family, instead of mythical things like a god that doesn't exist.

That's awesome! So glad to hear about the change in your life! God has such a wonderful plan for your family. Just remember to seek Him always, casting every burden of life on Him for He Loves you! Ps. I'm, as always, surprised at the bitter responses that follow such a positive post. Some people are so sad an angry... I hope they find Jesus too.

Most (professed) Christians I know, do more in their business dealings to hurt others and gain material wealth for themselves than any non-Christians I've ever met in life. It can't just be on Sundays and Wednesday nights that you "act" like a Christian. And, don't get me started on the damned gossiping that goes on in church. I guess it's easier to put everyone else down than look at your own faults. Deep down, I think everyone knows in their hearts there is a Higher Power or "God" that created this Universe we live in and all of us. Too bad, no one who has died can come back and let us all know the TRUTH.

wow there are some angry people. congratulations. Find a good support system through a church or something. It can be hard going as a Christian even more so since we are surrounded by "tolerant" people who like to call us stupid for having some faith.

Dude... I've been to titty bar once in my whole life..... It's my wife and midlife issues that she is in internal battle with. I certainly hope that we can push forward through this storm. Don't be a hater because life is way to short for that. Be well.

I am the author of this post... I know that change comes from within and I am willing to do my part. I am a good man with a great family. I would walk through fire for anyone of them. Thanks for the well wishes and direction. Be well everyone.

Church is not the religion, church is one kind of vessle your religion delivered in. Good for you for turning your life over! Don't do it for God, do it for you. I love this post and I love your attitude. Try hard to remember this feeling. It's beautiful. I remember when I was baptized it seemed like all the world had a new light shining on. Everything was brighter and filled with love. Remember this feeling. God is love and I love you.-Reverend Rains

Church has nothing to do with being a good person.

Whatever suits you. I know some real a** ****s who wouldn't miss church if their lives depended on it.

Is it that hard to believe that when you do good you get good? it really works like that who made it like that Idon't know. But handing over the worrying part to Jesus Christ God or any other dieity you want to, helps and means you do believe in something bigger than yourself, something that doesn't control your life but lends a hand to. wether your going negative or positive that little voice inside you isn't really you it's The Christ energy/God or whatever you want to name it doens't matter it's the same in ALL of us. Good luck to OG poster I am all for a husband wanting to be better. I am in the exact same boat as you guys with my husband I am also working on it and have come closer with Jesus and the Creator.

The burden of proof lays solely on the believer. I do believe that everyone who says they believe, deep down feel foolish. Its sad how people have yet to evolve enough to see the utter foolishness in believing in such nonsense and concepts such as god.

God is in the trees air water children animals everything that is beautiful. We lose ourselves. Peace and love should persevere, goodness should be standard. That is the purpose. Selfishness and ignorance are the downfall.

its wonderful you found god, do not let anyone bring you down he will lift you up as long as you believe and trust in him, good luck and god bless
Remove this stupid comment

Really, you didn't need "God" to change your life like that, you just had to believe in yourself. There is a possible benifit though: you get to hang with a better crowd of people. Good luck. -Sinner

^4 Absolutely! Why is it that"Christians" throw that word at you, and "Jesus" etc. They are just words. Do any of the "professed" christians really have any idea of what they are professing too? Since we are "made in God's image", the reality is that Gods people kill other people, swear, cheat, screw whenever and whatever they can, hit wives and girlfriends, cheat, get drunk, think of themselves as superior to all other creatures, think their own "tribe" is the only one that deserves to live, and so on and so on and scooby dooby doo-bee. (woops! thats Sly and the family Stone doing "Everyday People") But you get my drift.

Yes I did spell a couple of things wrong. I wasn't planning on turning it in for a grade, so I didn't proof read. Please feel free to proof read your own.

Humans defined goodness, and outlined it's rules through this thing called religion. Even if you don't beleive in a greater being, you should live by certain standards such as " do unto others" If you don't, you are part of the problem. You should have enough brains and morality to see this unless you are sadistic or phsyopathic.

Congrats! I did the same last year. In dealing with your new found faith and the folks around you, may I also suggest reading "The Art of Living: The Classic Manual on Virtue, Happiness, and Effectiveness " (Greek Philosophy - not the yoga, the book) Very simple and has also been a great benefit in handling life issues that come up.

Wow... I'm sorry folks, I didn't mean to start a holy war with my post. I am and always have been a believer I just needed to turn over the keys to the car. Thanks Rev. Rains for the added inspiration. I do believe in myself and now I have a higher power guiding me. Be well.

Wow, sad. The only person that will change your life is you. God, the easter bunny, jesus, mohammed, santa, zeus, they're all made up bullshit,, and you're another fool thinking you have to rely on the power of something else to change what you are in total control of.

Now why would you say something like that? Really? "Weakness and inability to be a good person". Really? Be well.
Remove this stupid comment

I'm sorry for your weakness and inability to be a good person without a mythical being to help you and "show you the light". Be that as it may, smoke crack, it's less damaging to the brain. Or better yet, give some to your friends so they can still tolerate you.
