I love the words, thank you for sharing. You are fortunate in finding something so many seek but never find. You sound like an awsome person. Merry Christmas!

I wish my mom were like you. Her macular degeneration has made her a self-absorbed bitter woman even more than she was before.

I've had people tell me that losing their sight was the best thing to ever happen for them.

Saddened to learn of your disability and grateful to know that you can see the blessings that accompanied it. However, as regards Thoreau's quote asserting that happiness will simply come to us... NO. Did it come to holocaust victims? To the oppressed in Rwanda? There are millions if not billions of people who are oppressed by their societies. As one of them, I resent the trivialization of my struggles and pain by that quote.

^1up, perhaps you would rather go blind? life is not fair and there is no easy answer to all the worlds problems. You have no idea what other stuggles the op has to deal with on top of being blind. If we all could see with our hearts maybe you would not feel oppressed. Even though you feel as though you are the only one to know suffering I hope that your situation changes.

^I am ^2. I've reread my post and still trying to see on what basis you inferred that I was minimizing the problems of the blind or suggesting that I was worse off.
