My dog died today. She was the sweetest thing I've ever known in my life. Not even a year old yet. It hurts mt to even look at my other dog. My heart's broken.

My golden is dying, has about 3 weeks. We lost our other one earlier this year, it is just devastating.

Your other dog is missing the one who died, too. Take comfort in each other.

We lost our baby two years ago and almost a year to the day she died we rescued an older dog from the pound on the urgent list who LITERALLY was to be put down with only hours to spare before we adopted him. He is the most wonderful dog we have ever had. He is so grateful for everything and just life itself. They say dogs don't understand but I believe they do. WHEN you are ready, adopt from the pound. No kill animal shelters are great too but the animals there are guaranteed a life where as pound puppies aren't. Best of luck and each day will get better once the numbness wears off. :o)

I would just like to say that years ago I paid $70 or so to save a puppy from the pound. He had been fixed ( I think), had his shots, all that... Less than a week later, we had to put it out of its misery due to the Parvo it apparently had contracted at the pound. They wouldn't even give us a refund, or another puppy for free. Fucking bastards. It was either pay to put it to sleep, wasting even more money, or put a bullet through it's head...

They are members of our families, and you have to grieve. For some people it's days and for some, it's weeks. Just depends on the person. My cat has been with me for almost 16 years now and has kidney failure and she probably only has a month left. I cry every day.

I just lost my dog about a month ago. It gets better and I hope you and your remaining dog give each other comfort.

Thank you for all the sweet words, I don't think I could get another dog right now and would rather just focus on my other one. He does miss her and he is a comfort to me now.

I'm sorry for your loss. Please know that your puppy was very lucky to have the time with you that he did. I'm sure you did all you could with what you had and he knows this. Please be good to yourself and take care of you and your other doggin. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but in time, it will be easier to deal with. The pain will always be there, yes, but in time, it will get easier. Hold on to this, ok? Take the time you need to grieve your baby and don't let anyone make you feel as if you don't have that right. Our pets are our babies and some people just don't get that. Take care =)

I love our cats (most of the time). Although, my boy wants a puppy, and I can't blame him. What boy doesn't want a dog to play with outside? After a few of our cats die off, he'll get his wish.

It is so hard to lose a love. I'm sorry.

I'm sorry! I know that pain! At least you loved her and gave her a good life while she was here. There's many more just waiting in pounds for a nice loving home! In time you can maybe rescue another loving friend.

WOW! 8 comments and nothing mean, I am so proud of the MUS community. Definitely save a dog from a pound, or even better from a no-kill animal shelter. It will help both you and your other doggie. If you are unsure of which breed or gender, do a little research first to avoid incompatibility.

don't forget ur other dog! He/she is greiving (or however its spelled) over ur paced dog too!

^Wouldn't it be better to go to a high kill facility? I mean the dogs at no kills and rescues are usually safer. There is no dog that will love you more than the one that gets pulled off death row.
