I go for honesty and genuine emotion first, but if it is gross or just for shock, I usually give thumbs down. A lot of times I don't rate because it is nothing special.

Secrets that usually raise the BS meter get thimbs down...repeats down...cheaters down, people who want to stir negative opinions down....Creative, funny, cute, sweet, heartbreaking anything I can relate to on a personal level gets an up. I speak for me :D

courage to share it gets thumbs up. nonsecrets or pride in detrimental behavior gets thumbs down. Sometimes it is just how I read into what is shared, possibly inaccurate assumptions make me choose one or the other as a mishap.
