I was horribly abused by both of my parents, and made the choice to break the cycle. I am a fantastic mother with 3 beautiful children, 2 adults and one juvenile. God bless you in all that you do.

Not to have kids is your choice completely. However if you chance your mind at some point, knowing you may have an issue will be your first step to breaking the cycle,and your very well could be a great parent

I have the same problem. My dad hit me and my brother with closed fists, belts and whips. I am afraid that I would hurt kids if I had any. I used to hit my dogs when they pissed me off.

My dad was a hitter also . Which is the reason I have NEVER hit my children . Had I decieded not to have children , because of him , it would be like letting him hit me every day . I have 4 wonderful childern 10- 22 years old . My oldest is starting her family now . I would have missed so much if I had let my dads action dictate mine .

I'm a 45 year old male who never had kids for the same reason. Sometimes I regret my decision but knowing that I stopped the cycle helps me get through it. I hate both of my parents, my Father for using me as his personal punching bag, and my mother for allowing it to happen.

To the OP - ME TOO!!! I tell people that I don't like children and that's why I won't have any, but I really do. I think I would be a wonderful mother 99% of the time, but the other 1% scares me. The sad thing is, I'm really great with children. One of my best friend's sons was mad at her and said he wished I was his mom because I listen to him when he talks. It made her sad, but it made me a little happy. Sad, but also happy. I think you're doing the right thing, and I think I am too. Peace and love, sister!

I was abused too, and did have kids and I am proud to say I have never abused my children. In fact I love them twice as much so they can feel loved the way I never felt. I told myself i would never be like my parents and i kept my promise. Both of my children are gifted with high iq's and i am so so proud.

I too decided to stop the cycle by not having kids of my own. I love kids,but do not regret not having my own. Both my brothers have issues with their children and from my point of view would have better servered their children by not having them.People should give children more thought before making a commitment to raise children.

my father kicked my ass on a daily basis from the age of 6 to 17. I am a parent of three girls and would never dream of putting them threw what i went threw.
