College is overrated. 20 years ago, it was worth it. Today? You'd make more money getting a job at 16 and working your way up, rather than cutting into that time by going to college. Don't project your dreams onto her. If she wants it, she'll go for it.

agreed with second poster. college is a waste of time unless you plan on going for at least 8 years, probably more, to get a masters or doctorate in something. a bachelors degree means NOTHING.

college isn't what it used to be. colleges now exist to perpetuate themselves. not every career requires a degree. i know plenty of people who make more money than me, and love their jobs, who never went to college. i have a degree, and it has done absolutely nothing for me but put me 20k in the hole. don't foist off your dreams on someone else. let your niece decide for herself.
