I think you misinterpreting your feelings. You are young and it feels that way sometimes, things will fall back into their proper perspective as you mature.

We can't choose family, but we can choose friends. Enjoy both for what they offer to your life.

You shouldn't feel ashamed, some people are blessed with a close family others are not so lucky.

Ditto. My best friend has been there for me more so than family members ever have, doesn't hurt my feelings, and completely understands me. I wish I had family members that I could say the same about, but it's just not like that.

I feel the same way...ALOT. I'm much closer to my friends than my family. So many times I was there for them and told my family I was too busy. That's ok though, my family was never there for me either.

when my dog died, i wanted to kill myself. i was closer to him than any of my family members and cared about him more (and he was there for me more than they ever were.) so don't feel guilty. it's all about the connections you have with the ones you love...not about how you're 'supposed' to feel.

You don't have to be kin to be brothers.
