One bank bag + you paid cash for the house and car + plus you have over half left = you are a big liar. Cash purchases over $10,000 activate investigations. And another thing: Those bills in the bag had to be very large denominations to fit in ONE bag and the lost bag would have been reported by the owner for insurance reimbursement. Wake up. The fry timer is going off, that last customer wanted the jumbo fry with his order.

Typically when someone says they paid "cash" what they mean is that they didn't need a loan - they still typically use checks or credit cards. If the OP is saying that he went to a real estate closing and threw $150,000 in actual cash on the table or walked into a car dealership and thew $25,000 in actual cash on the counter then he is full of shit. The above poster is correct - any hard cash transaction over $10,000 must by law be documented.

I stopped and brought back a small toy that was left in my basket by mistake. I gave it to the clerk and said I'm sorry but I just noticed this in my basket and gave it back to her. I thought about keeping it because it was only 25 cents but then I remembered A STEAL IS A STEAL no matter how big or small. Wethere you steal a penny or a grand. YOU STOLE. It comes back around at ya.... good luck.

well it might not be BS. I know people who make a lot of cash and spend their "real money" on traceable things like a house and car. If you spent cash for food and all other entertainment and such and money orders for regular bills then you would have a lot of "real money" to buy really nice things you couldn't normally afford.

BS BS BS BS BS. Does it make you feel big and important to write garbage like this?

You would be suprised how much cash a bag could hold if it was all in 100's. You can fill a brown grocery bag with 1 million if all in 100's.

The part about the checks is true. My husband and I paid cash for both a house and a car. When I say cash I mean we wrote a check. If the guy was smart he would have slowly deposited the money into an account and wrote checks from it. Just because he said he bought a big house doesn't mean anything. We bought a "big" house for 104,000 and my car cost 17,500. Not huge amounts.

I think the op could get away with it, all they would have to do is sit on the money and slowly deposit small sums (under the $10,000 limit for audits) slowly into his or her bank account throughout the year(s). If they have a job they could use the cash to purchase money orders to pay their bills with and live off of day to day and save their work income in their bank account. I know if this was me, I'd find a way to get away with it!! If true you're lucky.

Finders keepers, losers weepers. At least he/she held on to the cash for a while before spending it. Good for you- live it up.

So..I want to buy a house and it's $150K...So I put a $20K deposit on it and mortgage it for $130K...then every month the mortgage is due I make an $8K payments for about 18 months until it's paid off....same concept with the car....think outside the box...it can be done if need be. You don't have to put $150K down on the spot.

Most jurisdictions have the crime of 'Stealing by finding'You are required by law to hand it into the police. If it IS drug money or other criminal gain, the criminals are unlikely to claim it- in three months it's yours, legally. At worst, if it's legally claimed, there's a high probability you'd get a 10% reward. Every other alternative is even better. Your way, you must keep your secret to the end of your life or face jail time. You're not doing a good job of keeping that secret by the way. Even in those jurisdictions where a statute of limitation applies, it runs from when the crime is discovered. has anyone yet discovered you are guilty of stealing by finding?I admit that when I handed the money in, I'd ask Internal Affairs to review who claimed it, just to be on the safe side- but that's hardly as hard as the situation you've got yourself into.
