I used to smoke until my dog said he was disappointed in me. Now the doctor gives me pills so that I don't hear the dog talking anymore.

I could care less if this is your habit of choice. I just wish you wouldn't talk about wanting to quit and then giving up all the time. It's kind of a drag.

This is not really a secret. Everytime I tell people I'm trying to quit, they know it's bullshit and so do I. You're not fooling anyone.

I wish you'd upgrade to hard drugs, so you're the only one suffering, instead of polluting OUR air. You'd also die sooner, which is also a plus.

give electronic cigarettes a try...I smoked for 10 years, and laughed at them when they came out as trendy. Now I haven't touched an actual cigarette in 3 months and don't feel any urge too. Now my goal is to give up nicotine altogether.

I don't get why some people are so mean with their comments here. I'm a former smoker, I hate being near it now and think smoking is dirty, smelly and gross, but I wouldn't wish harm on someone who smokes, they're already hurting themselves. S0 what's all the viciousness about people? As for quitting being BS, it took me 5 years and 100 tries to get it right, but I did (11 years ago) and so can you. Quitting takes practice and is the hardest habit of all drugs to break. So keep trying and your friends will support you no matter how many times you fail. Cigarettes are insidious and take away our will by masquerading as pleasure while stealing our lives. Don't let them fool you. If someone tried to force you to smoke you would do whatever it took not to so why do you smoke of your own free will? To the op, smoking is your choice, albeit a bad one, why do you find it necssary to tell people you're quitting if you're not. Time to make a decision sailor.

In 2000 my best friend died of sleep apne caused by him being overweigh and smoking. The last words I spoke to him were these. "We aren't getting any younger so why don't we get together and lose some weight and you quit that smoking." He said "I'm not going to quit smoking, I enjoy it too much". He died a month alter. He was 51 1/2 years old. He left his wife and son and two elderly parents behind him. Suit yourself.

My dad used to say "Cut the horse shit sailor, the sea's on fire." Fits here pretty well speaking of sailors.

OP here, first off I didn't phrase my thought correctly. I don't tell people I am "trying" to quit, but I do say I know that I should, I plan to someday and all the other obligatory things a smoker says when they are trapped by their addiction. BUT, I love to smoke, I love the way it makes me feel. I've done it for so long now it is just a part of who I am. I am a consciences smoker: I never smoke around non-smoking people, I don't smoke in my home, I ALWAYS put my butts in the trash and 90% of my friends don't even know I smoke (I don't lie if asked though). It's my body, let me destroy it however I want.

I do not smoke, but I miss; smelling cigarettes in bars, sitting in the smoking section of restaurants (nothing like the atmosphere of low smoke in a good restaurant), and since everyone I work with quit, I don't even have second hand smoke there. Keep smoking, I appreciate it.

I'm a smoker. We really don't enjoy it like the caption says. What we are really doing is satisfying our addiction when we inhale the nicotine we are addicted to in the first place.
